Facebook Has Started Testing Ads In Messenger
Facebook has managed to get 1.2 billion of their monthly users to download their Messenger app, and now the company has revealed plans to start monetizing the separate app.
Ads will start appearing in the home tab of the Messenger app, which once clicked will take the user to the advertiser’s website or into a new chat window where they can interact with the brand. There will be an option to hide specific ads, but it won’t be possible to remove the ads entirely.
Mobile ads as of now make up 85% of Facebook’s ad revenue, so it makes sense even though it may be annoying to Facebook users.
