Following it’s SXSW premiere, the official trailer for the new for Boots Riley’s feature directorial debut, Sorry to Bother You has been released. After critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival the film stars Lakeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson, alongside Terry Crews, Omari Hardwick, Jermaine Fowler, Armie Hammer, Danny Glover and Steven Yeun.
The story follows follows a young black man trying to find his purpose in life in an alternative version of Oakland. Living in his uncle’s (Crews) garage, Cass finds solace in the arms of his artist, sign-twirling girlfriend Detroit (Thompson) who chooses activism over affluence. Desperate to accomplish more in life, Cass lands himself a job at a telemarketing company where after receiving some advice from an elderly co-worker where he quickly rises up the ranks. It may seem all good but he quickly realizes how much it ttakes to stay on top and the lengths he has to go to keep his position.
