Shia LaBeouf hasn’t heard from Kanye West since allowing the rapper to clear out his closet for a pop-up shop idea that never came to fruition.
The Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps actor learned Kanye was a big fan of his “fresh” fashion style after receiving a shout-out from the rapper on an outtake of his 2016 song No More Parties in LA.The two stars ended up connecting, with Shia taking his mother to attend one of Kanye’s concerts, before inviting the musician to his Los Angeles home to discuss the possibility of future art collaborations.
One of the proposals Kanye brought up was a pop-up project featuring Shia’s clothes, so he asked to borrow pieces from the 31-year-old’s wardrobe.
“So I’m like, ‘Go for it, my guy. Take everything you want.’ And he did. He took all my f**king clothes,” Shia tells Esquire magazine.
The get-together took place before Kanye suffered his infamous onstage meltdown in November, 2016, when he took aim at his famous friends JAY-Z and Beyonce, and even included a message for Shia, appearing to call him out for failing to reach out to mutual pal Kid Cudi, who had checked into rehab for depression weeks earlier. Shia shares, “Me and him (Kanye) haven’t really been in contact since he blew up onstage and, you know, s**t on me.”
However, the actor insists he has “of course” tried to lend his support to the Power hitmaker, who has been laying low since cutting short his tour after his onstage outburst and subsequent hospitalisation for exhaustion.
“I f**king love Kanye West,” he says. “He’s going through a lot. And I don’t know where he’s at or what he’s doing.” But Shia is still waiting to take back his clothing – including a hat he took from the set of 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. “The dude has a lot of my s**t,” he adds.
