Nike Comes Back With The Other 'Back to the Future' Sneaker
The Nike Bruin’s is a huge staple in the brand’s history has pop culture implications that lie outside the sports world. In the last category, the shoe successfully birthed Nike Basketball, appearing on the hardwood of Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseumback in 1972. Featuring a full-grain leather upper and cupsole construction, versus the more traditional suede and autoclave build of the time, the silhouette would quickly gain a second life as a lifestyle sneaker and pop culture artifact. That’s right, keen observers will recognize the shoe as being Marty McFly’s sneaker of choice in the original Back to the Future film. It releases tomorrow on Back to the Future Day, under the Nike Lab banner and with the tongue, sockliner and heel noticeably logo-free. Purchase the kicks through select NikeLab retailers worldwide.
