He has offered tactical advice to Jose Mourinho and taken part in Soccer Aid, and now Anchorman star Will Ferrell is the part owner of a football club.
Ferrell was announced as a member of the ownership group of new MLS franchise Los Angeles FC at a press event on Thursday.
“This is not a joke,” said Ferrell. “I’m actually a member of this fine ownership group.”
Ferrell, who has previously claimed to be a Chelsea fan, joins former LA Lakers NBA star Magic Johnson, US women’s soccer legend Mia Hamm and baseball’s Nomar Garciaparra as the latest member of the ownership group.
The actor has played an ice skater, NASCAR driver and semi-professional basketball player in the past – perhaps he could ask Roman Abramovich for advice on his latest role.
The club, who will not feature in MLS until the 2018 season, also unveiled their crest and colours on Thursday.
The badge features ‘LA’ in large letters, stylised with a feathered wing to reference Los Angeles’ famed nickname, the ‘City of Angels’.
