The #deletefacebook movement is in full force and shows no signs of slowing down, now Playboy has deactivated its Facebook Pages which had a combined following of 25 million fans.
Although, Playboy is not as influential as it used to be, they still have a large following on the social media platform. In fact in 2014, Playboy stated that Facebook was its largest audience.
“The recent news about Facebook’s alleged mismanagement of users’ data has solidified our decision to suspend our activity on the platform at this time,” said the company in a statement. “There are more than 25 million fans who engage with Playboy via our various Facebook pages, and we do not want to be complicit in exposing them to the reported practices.”
Elon Musk also deleted the Tesla and SpaceX Facebook Pages the other day after replying to a tweet from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton, calling on everyone to delete Facebook. It’s worth noting however, that Playboy, SpaceX and Tesla all have Instagram accounts up and running, so they are still supporting Facebook, indirectly.
